Floral Park tax preparer sentenced to two years in jail

David Menzies, 51 practicing out of Floral Park has been sentenced to two years in prison on July 26 at 1pm. He also has to pay back $280,930 to the IRS as part of restitution. Menzies earlier pleaded guilty after filing tax returned adding fake dependents to reimburse more refunds for his clients. The investigation was started in 2012 when IRS noticed odd filing. Menzies told the judge he was a modern day Robin Hood stealing from the rich and giving to the poor but the judge didn't buy it.
