Fire at a home in Jamaica Estates with fatalities

FDNY reported heavy fire at a home in Jamaica Estates. This is on Chevy Chase Street near 87th Avenue at the location, 87/25.

The fire marshal confirmed multiple fatalities and over ten injuries.

EMS is working to transport the injured to local hospitals.

The medical examiner is working to transport the dead bodies to conduct autopsies.

The fire started in the basement and extended throughout the home.

Heavy smoke in the area as residents are advised to stay indoors.

Firefighters are working on the scene.

So far three dead and twelve injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
