Fifth oldest woman nationwide but the first in NY from Queens

Rose Girone will always be remembered by her family, friends and peers from all over the world for many stories. Girone passed away yesterday at the age of 113 in Connecticut. She is also the world's oldest Holocaust survivor.

A long time Queens resident known for her knitting started the first shop in Rego Park while living in Whitestone.

Then expanded to Forest Hills until 1980.

A true hero in Queens.
