Fatalities after car crash reported in West Babylon

Last night around 1am, police were called to Great East Neck Road and Railroad Avenue reporting a fully involved vehicle fire after a crash at the intersection.

Firefighters worked on the scene and the fire was brought under control shortly. ESU confirmed five people trapped inside both vehicles with two dead.

EMS transported all the injured to local hospitals.

Police reported this was an entire family in the vehicle trapped during the fire.

The medical examiner transported the bodies to conduct an autopsy.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
