Fanfare rush to reopen cannabis stores in NYC

After a Queens judge ruled it was unconstitutional to shut down cannabis locations operating without license, most of the retailers rushed to open them including Queens. This is where a due process must be applied pending the outcome in the court.

Union Turnpike from Kew Gardens to Glen Oaks also reported they are in the process of re-opening the ones that were shut down by the NYC Sheriff's Office.

So far there are only a few dozen licensed cannabis locations in NYC while over 1,000 unlicensed of which 900 were shut down as part of Operation Padlock to Protect authorized by the Governor.

The Mayor's Office responded with a plan to appeal.

So the new task force is to issue a summon while keeping the operation ongoing and respond in court with a ruling to decide whether to shut down locations. Also no confiscation of items allowed but shut down if the final decision from court is ruled and delivered to the marshal.

So what this means the marshal can only enforce a court order.

The Governor’s and Mayor’s ambition project is now hanging in balance.
