FDNY had a busy weekend battling fire and the heat

Beside crime in Queens, the FDNY had a long weekend with more fires reported. The first major one was in Corona near the 7 line on Friday evening forcing commuters to continue with buses on Roosevelt Avenue. The fire resulted with multiple injuries including firefighters.

This afternoon, a dead body was found washed ashore in the Rockaway section of Queens. The medical examiner transported the body to conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

As for heavy fire locations, there were two incidents on Metropolitan Avenue near Onderdonk Avenue in Ridgewood. The other is on 162nd Street near 41st Avenue in Flushing with multiple injuries including two firefighters.

As for major crime in NYC, hand down, it's the Bronx where 6 people were shot between 6 pm yesterday to this morning 6am. Also, two were killed.

With three days of heat wave in NYC, the Mayor's Office and ConEd advised all to go to the local cooling centers instead of using air conditioners at home to conserve energy.
