Essex County women charged in SNAP welfare fraud case

On November 2, 2025, New York State Police members arrested Bonnie J. Crevier, age 53, of Jay, NY, for Grand Larceny 4th degree, Welfare Fraud 4th degree, Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st degree, and Falsifying Business Records 1st degree.

On August 18, 2025, at approximately 1:27 p.m., State Police received an investigative packet from an investigator with the Essex County Department of Social Services regarding suspected welfare fraud.

An investigation determined Crevier falsified a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) application, which resulted in an overpayment of approximately $2,246 in benefits. During the period in which she was receiving benefits, she failed to report income from a part-time job, from operating an Airbnb, and from operating a business.
