Early Christmas gift for drivers on the GCP in Douglaston

The NYS Dept of Transportation announced an early Christmas gift for all drivers and passengers for using the Grand Central Parkway from Exit 23 to Exit 24. The date of expected completion is December 21, 2025. That's next year when the road works will be complete. The project cost an estimated $180 million dollars from taxpayers.

This is between Union Turnpike and Commonwealth Blvd from Douglaston to Bellerose.

The next step is one lane on the eastbound shift moving two lanes toward the Cross Island Parkway side.

In the coming weeks, there will be single or double lane closures so drivers are advised to proceed with caution including rush hour.

This is part of widening the lanes to connect to the Cross Island Parkway from the GCP eastbound that causes delays.

The project may exceed $200 million if additional work is required on the parkway in both directions.
