E cig smokers facing potential ban by City Council

The City Council is holding a hearing Wednesday to classify e-cigarettes in the same category as regular smokes. A proposed bill would ban the use of e-cigs in restaurants, offices, parks, beaches and other public spaces. Officials say they?re acting because e-cig use has nearly doubled among middle and high school students between 2011 and 2012 and because it?s hard to distinguish between the real thing and the electronic substitutes for enforcement purposes.
