Driver in custody after search for fatal hit and run in Nassau County

The NCPD reported a hit and run in North Bellmore resulting in one dead. This is in the vicinity of North Jerusalem Road and Sherman Avenue the incident occurred last night around 11pm. The dead was a motorcyclist on the scene. Police tracked down the driver who took off on foot using assistance from the K-9 canine unit and was taken into custody. The district attorney's office confirmed the driver has been charged with vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene and DWI.

The investigation continues.
