A cool million to house six in NYC for now

Come 2037, that's the year NYC's affordable housing program will likely expire unless the new government in control decides to renew but less likely due to maturity of mortgages leaving NYC with no income.

According to the NYC Comptroller's Office, the cost to house 6 units under affordable housing is a cool $1 million per year. That number is expected to go up until the year 2037 where a decision will be unknown as of now.

As of today, almost 300,000 units through different subsidy vouchers are not protected after 2037 as per the original agreement.

The term “permanent affordability” was a catch phrase used for elections but building owners continue to increase to cover maintenance and rising costs.

Let's see what the government's love in the year 2037.
