Doctor arrested for strangling a nurse in East Meadow

Police arrested Venkatesh Sasthakonar, 44 of Albertson and charged with strangling a nurse. The incident happened on Tuesday, January 23 at the Nassau University Medical Center in 2201 Hempstead Turnpike in East Meadow. Sasthakonar, a surgeon working at the hospital allegedly strangled a 51 year old nurse for giving a patient the wrong time for medication with an elastic cord from behind to the victims neck. He was released on $3,500 bail.
