Desperate times calls for scams involving clothing drop thefts

Both NCPD and SCPD reported illegal clothing donation bins on the rise. At the same time, clothes dropped off are being sold at local flea markets and online. According to NYPD, all clothing bins must have identification with name, address and tax identification attached to them. Of many, the lot on the corner of Little Neck Parkway and Hillside Avenue has been a target of flea market sales by locals who takes them according to several readers here.

Before police removed clothing bins on Union Turnpike and 256th Street, the owner of a home was fined and had them removed after scams. In Nassau County, over 120 bins were taken away after complaints. All bins must be approved with stickers before placing them in Long Island.
