Death of a dog and a man in Flushing under investigation

The NYPD is investigating the death of a dog and a man discovered inside a van that does service to animals in Flushing. Calls came in this morning around 8:30am on 65th Avenue near 157th Street after no response from local customers.

Further investigation confirmed there was no pulse on both and declared dead. The medical examiners transported both to conduct autopsies. Police also say a male, 73, was outside waiting for the service who called 911 was taken to a local hospital now in stable condition due to the weather.

Locals know the man who was a vet that does service in the area and helps many with their pets. A generator was working to keep the inside of the van warm but additional details were not disclosed.

The investigation continues.

So far NYC reported 14 deaths from the cold officially while 21 unofficially. This is due to no force allowed to bring anyone in this cold inside the shelters under the new Mayor. It's up to the individual to decide whether to seek shelter or not. This includes the homeless.
