Deadline to respond has seven days for the NY Governor

The US Dept of Transportation has set the deadline today to end the Congestion Pricing in NYC after the NY Governor received a letter on April 21.

The four page letter reached the Governor who then held a press brief with this quote, “The program is working. Traffic is down, business is up and the cameras are staying on.”

The US Dept of Transportation now says by May 28, funding and approvals for highway projects in Manhattan may withhold if congestion pricing is not shut down with this quote from a spokesperson,

“As stated in the April 21 letter, New York Governor Hochul has until no later than May 21st to respond to the Department. Following that deadline, and consideration of the Governor’s response, [the Federal Highway Administration] may implement compliance actions as soon as May 28th."

Despite lawsuits from both sides, the MTA stated on March 24, the program is on track to generate $500 million by the end of this year.

President Trump wants the program to end since it affects the working class commuting to Manhattan for work while avoiding the subways which have seen rising crimes from locals.

A recent poll shows only 39% want the program to continue.

The Governor has not announced the next press statement as of yet.
