Dead body found near Whitestone

Police reported a dead body was found near Powell’s Cove this evening after lengthy search since early morning.

Around 5am this morning, there were reports of a jumper down from the Throgs Necks Bridge on the Queens side.

ESU started search since the report from early morning on and around the bridge and the body was recovered this evening.

The medical examiner transported the body to conduct autopsy.

The investigation continues.
