Crime continue to go down in the safest city and that is NYC

The safest city nationwide, NYC continues to report crime is down except for one which is sky high and that's hate crimes.

For the month January and February 2026, according to NYPD data released, there were 83 shooting incidents with bullet victims. Still that's down compared to 92 in 2025 which is a difference of 9 incidents. There were 97 shooting victims and 32 murders for both months this year already.

Overall crime is down by 8%. Retail thefts fell by 24% after many stores locked up items.

Note this is initial reported count and not restated count which will be announced next year and the numbers are always higher.

As for hate crimes, it was 182% the highest in NYC while robberies continue to have victims transported to local hospitals with injuries. A new trend is growing and that's the market place where victims are being robbed. The NYPD advised all meet to be at the local police precinct to conduct transactions.

NYC is the safest city as per the Mayor and Governor.

With the weather getting better it's a great time for outdoor activities.
