Cough up riders to travel to Manhattan

Starting April 2024, Congestion Pricing is expected to start in Manhattan for drivers. This came after the Governor announced federal approved the plan. It will bring the city one billion dollars annually to cover costs and upgrade public transportation from trains, buses, commuter rail systems. There is a $15 billion loan which needs to be paid back to the federal government by MTA.

This is first of a kind nationwide to reduce vehicles entering the most congested areas by 20%.

The proposed plan is $23 with EZPass to enter below 60th Street for peak hours and $17 for off-peak hours.

The good news is that low income people can get discounts. As for taxis and app drivers along with passenger cars, there will be only one charge a day for now.

The most affected are commercial truck drivers making deliveries.
