Controversial land in Bellerose is on the market

The Indian Cultural and Community Center purchased the lot, 239-30 Union Turnpike to use as a community center in 2011. The original plan was to use the location as multi-family residential two storied buildings. The proposed 9 floor with 72 residential unit faces backlash in the community and the plan was halted. Then changed the plan to a senior center which was approved but never materialized. The 4.5 acres lot is on the market listed with Cushman and Wakefield. The price is not disclosed. According to the listing company, The site also has approved plans for an approximately 114,000 square foot senior housing (87 rooms) and community center.
