College credits and GED now offered for city workers

The NYC Mayor's Office announced a new partnership with Metropolitan College of NY allowing city workers to earn their high school diploma (GED) or college credits.

There is no cost to the city workers and the tab will be picked up by taxpayers as usual.

The program is called EPIC. Up to 27 credits can be earned within three semesters in the college.

This came after The Department of Citywide Administrative Services announced over 3,000 job openings that have a mandate of a high diploma and college degree requirements.

According to the Mayor's Office, lots of workers have left NYC for other states due to the high cost of living and trying to fill up positions with the requirements.
