College Point house fire reported with one dead

The FDNY reported a house fire this morning around 5am in College Point. This is on 26th Avenue near 124th Street at unit number 7. The fire started on the first floor and was brought under control after one hour. The fire marshal confirmed a woman, 85 years old, was found inside. EMS transported the victim to a local hospital where she later died. One firefighter suffered minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
