Close to 500 coming this month for Queens border on car accidents

This morning around 9am, rush was a mess on the Long Island Expressway westbound near the Midtown Tunnel where a crash occurred with 9 vehicles piled up with two stacked on top. EMS reported four injuries with one in critical and three in serious conditions.

According to a witness, a driver of a Honda hit a late blind cut to pass another vehicle, a Tesla and clipping occurred. Then another vehicle, a Porsche went straight toward the Tesla with the crash. This is when the Tesla went to the wall and Honda bounces off the median and catches the Porsche wedged between the median and the other two vehicles. This is not confirmed by the police.

According to the Traffic Data from the NYC website, the same area reported 414 vehicle accidents with injuries for this year. For the year 2025, the average car crash in NYC was 625 per day in the five boroughs. Brooklyn leads with 31% followed by 29% for Queens and 20% for Manhattan. The Bronx reported 15% and 5% in Staten Island.

As for the highway, Belt Parkway is the one with the most car crashes which reported 13,906 for last year.
