Chemical exposure leading to hospitals on Long Island

Around 1pm this afternoon, the SCPD reported a call regarding a suspicious substance at the local municipal social service office. This is at 200 Wireless Blvd in Hauppauge, Suffolk County.

From the police statement, a worker opened a white envelope and the exposure resulted in dizziness.

Further investigation confirmed EMS transported all inside the location to local hospitals. Another 100 people were quarantined inside the location and evacuated.

The hazmat crew is working on the scene to identify the substance.

As of now the location is closed.

Residents are advised to stay away from the area.

Heavy police and emergency personnel at the scene.
