Chazy female arrested for criminal possession of stolen property 3rd

On April 2, 2025, members of the State Police arrested Nichole L. Lapier, age 44, of Chazy, NY, for criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree.

The incident began on March 31, 2025, at approximately 9:33 a.m., when Troopers responded to a complaint of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on Champlain Street in the village of Rouses Point. The investigation revealed that Lapier had permission to use a black 2024 Ford Maverick pickup truck but was required to return it by the end of the day. However, the following morning, the truck had still not been returned.

Further investigation indicated that the black 2024 Ford Maverick had been involved in a police pursuit initiated by the Plattsburgh City Police Department, with assistance from the State Police and the Clinton County Sheriff's Department. The pursuit lasted approximately 10 miles and traversed several roads in the city of Plattsburgh, the town of Plattsburgh, and Peru. The pursuit was eventually terminated due to a loss of sight of the vehicle.

During the ongoing search involving multiple agencies, the Clinton County Sheriff's Department received a report of a female asking for help on Lapham Mills Road. When law enforcement arrived, the female was no longer present. State Police and the Clinton County Sheriff's Department subsequently searched the surrounding areas. The Troopers located the 2024 Ford Maverick abandoned, while the Clinton County Sheriff's Department found the driver, identified as Lapier, hiding in the attic of an apartment complex on Lapham Mills Road. She was taken into custody without incident.

Lapier was transported to State Police Plattsburgh after being processed by both the Plattsburgh City Police Department and the Clinton County Sheriff's Department for charges related to this incident.

After being arrested and processed at SP Plattsburgh, Lapier was arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court and released on her own recognizance.
