Chain reaction events from NHP to Floral Park

The NCPD reported calls came in for a domestic disturbance in New Hyde Park. Then details were obtained of the vehicle and driver whom a family member told police was allegedly drunk.

The vehicle was last seen on Hillside Avenue westbound in Floral Park where witnesses say speed was clocked over 70mph. Before the intersection of Little Neck Parkway, the driver crashed toward a vehicle in the front which was double parked by changing lanes to beat the light before turning red according to a witness. This is when the vehicle crashed into the double parked vehicle which then struck the food cart resulting in panic among bystanders on the sidewalk.

EMS treated all with minor injuries.

The Nassau County Sheriff's Dept arrived on the scene for the original call. The NYPD arrested the driver for DWI and transported to the local precinct and then to the Queens District Attorney's Office for charges pending. The Nassau County Detectives are also working on the case due to domestic violence in cooperation with the DA's office.

The investigation continues.
