On February 19, 2025, State Police arrested Todd D. Stiles, age 46, of Canton, NY, on charges of criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation and endangering the welfare of a child.
The incident began on February 18, 2025, at approximately 1:58 P.M. Troopers responded to Country Route 27 in the town of Canton regarding a physical domestic dispute. The investigation revealed that Stiles was involved in a verbal argument with a child, which escalated into physical violence. Stiles allegedly placed his hands around the child's throat, applying pressure, and then threw the child off a stool while still holding the child’s neck. The victim managed to escape from Stiles and went outside to wait for the police to arrive.
Stiles agreed to leave the residence while the Troopers conducted their investigation.
On February 19, 2025, he was arrested and taken to SP Canton for processing. He was subsequently arraigned in the Town of Canton Court and released on his own recognizance. An order of protection was issued for the victim.
