Brooklyn man arrested for attempted rape

On March 13, 2025, following a year-long investigation, Members of Troop NYC Bureau of Criminal Investigation – SP Manhattan BCI - arrested Amadou Kane, age 22, of Brooklyn, NY.  Kane was arrested, after a Kings County Grand Jury issued a 19-count indictment, which included a sexually-motivated charge of Robbery in the 1st Degree (B Felony) and Attempted Rape in the 1st degree (C felony).  Among the other charges on this indictment were Strangulation, Assault and Menacing.

Kane is accused of entering Shirley Chisolm State Park in Brooklyn, on his bicycle where he strangled, robbed, and attempted to sexually assault a female victim who was walking in the park in September of 2023.  Investigators combed through countless hours of video surveillance, conducted multiple analyses of electronic devices, and combined that evidence with bank records to identify the suspect.
