Brentwood man arrested in Valley Stream after chase on SSP

Police arrested Derrick Douglas, 39 of Brentwood and charged with drugs and resisting arrest after chase on Southern State Parkway. It happened on Saturday, December 30 around 2am. Police didn't disclose details on the chase. The vehicle was stopped on the parkway east by exit N Fletcher Avenue. When police tried to arrest Douglas, he was resisting. During this time, a vehicle struck the vehicles of police and Douglas's. Another officer along with the arresting cop and Douglas suffered minor injuries.
