Belmont Park Arena s final project announced

The NYS Empie State Development announced the final Environmental Impact Statement for the Belmont Park Arena after public hearings and community inputs. 19,000 seat arena with over 7,000 parking spaces, community center, retail locations and office space consisting of 350,000 square feet. movie theater, hotel with 250 rooms and conference center. All the roads including Elmont will be renovated. The new LIRR station will have signs on Cross Island Parkway with carpooling. A separate lanes similar to HOV on Cross Island Parkway during peak hours are under discussion. There will be 3,000 permanent jobs and 10,000 temporary for the development. Officials reported around $850 million dollars will be the annual income projected to $1 billion down the line when the operation starts in 2024. Two local schools, Sewanhaka and Elmont High Schools would receive over $150 million as part of the 50 years payment in lieu of taxes agreement. Other local communities would also benefits from the taxes but details were not provided.
