Bellerose main road closed for clean up

Jericho Turnpike westbound remains closed and the NYC Dept of Transportation along with the building dept is on the scene cleaning up the debris and working to remove the parked vehicles that were affected from the damage yesterday.

This is between 245 and 246th Streets in Bellerose near the Cross Island Parkway.

The original incident was called for when a large front signage of a furniture store collapsed on Wednesday around 5pm. Three people were taken to local hospitals for injuries now in stable condition.

Officials from the building dept also issued violations to the property from failure to maintain a new structure to add for the signage. Also, all violations must be corrected and approved by the building dept before opening the commercial locations for the public.

Locals are advised to use alternate traffic until the area is cleared by the building dept.

The estimate restoration time has not been disclosed.
