Basement fire with one dead in Richmond Hill

On Thursday around 5pm, FDNY reported a basement fire in Richmond Hill with one dead. This was a private dwelling on 132nd Street and 94th Avenue. This is near Atlantic Avenue.

A 72 year old male died and several firefighters were injured.

The fire was brought under control around 6pm.

EMS reported minor injuries to other occupants in the residence.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
