Basement fire continue to increase around NYC mainly in Queens

The FDNY reported increasing basement fires at residential locations. According to the NYC Building Dept, detached garages has also reported increasing fires and the officials won’t disclose the cause.

A home in Woodhaven at 76th Street and 88th Avenue was the latest incident of basement fire that started around 4:30am this morning.

Around 8:30am, a home in Bayside reported a basement fire. This is 208th Street near 48th Avenue on Saturday.

According to local neighbors, many complained to 311 of too many dwellers in the basement and inspectors are unable to obtain access due to no response when knocking the door or ringing the bell. A warrant is needed to enter by force which must be signed off by the complainant.

All the fire incidents are under investigation.
