Authorities warning naives with a new lottery scam

Police are investigating two new cases in Queens and Nassau of a new lottery scam. In Jackson Heights, a couple approached a victim claiming they won the lottery and coerced a victim to give $2,600 to assist in cashing the ticket. Police released the surveillance picture of the incident happened on Apri 19 around 2pm on 43rd Avenue and 104 Street.

In Nassau County, the similar incident occurred on Thursday, May 4 through May 11 in Seaford.

According to detectives, the female victim, 75, was contacted by an unknown person who advised her that she won 6 million dollars from Publisher Clearing House. The victim was told the taxes needed to be paid prior to receiving the winnings. The victim made several withdrawals totaling $136,300 dollars and sent the money to a Florida address. The victim also sent jewelry valued at approximately $90,000 dollars.

Both are under investigation.
