Arrest in Uniondale after vehicular accident

The Homicide Squad reports an Arrest for a Serious Vehicular Accident that occurred at 10:00 pm on Saturday, June 10, 2023, in Uniondale. According to Detectives, a sixty-year-old male pedestrian was walking south to north on Front Street at New York Avenue when he was struck by a 2018 Mercedes Benz sedan, operated by a forty-four-year-old male. The male victim sustained head trauma and was transported to a local area hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Subsequent to the investigation, at 11:06pm the male driver was arrested without incident. Defendant Eric O. Wheatley, 44, of Uniondale is charged with Vehicular Assault 2nd Degree and DWI. He will be arraigned on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in First District Court 99 Main Street Hempstead.
