Animal control rescued dogs at a Rego Park apartment

The NYPD received an anonymous tip of an apartment location where dogs were hoarded in bad conditions in Rego Park. The incident was reported on Thursday in the vicinity of Yellowstone Blvd and 62nd Road. Details were released on Saturday. Police along with ASPCA and Animal Control Care of NYC arrived at the scene and reported over 40 dogs, mainly Belgian Malinois breed found inside living in filth condition. However, animal control workers said the dogs were not malnourished but due to the conditions cramped inside called in poor health, three were euthanized.

Police are now looking for the occupants of the apartment who have not been seen but neighbors say the owner of the dogs lives nearby in an RV. Also, the NYC Sheriff has padlocked the apartment due to inhabitable conditions.

As of now, the dogs are not available for adoption due to more caring being done until they are ready.

In the meantime, the investigation continues.
