All lanes closed on the CIP southbound in Hempstead

The NYPD closed all lanes on the Cross Island Parkway reporting multiple vehicle accident.

Several witnesses say this was a result of pursuit from the Bronx.

This is on the southbound by Hempstead Turnpike Exit in Elmont.

Heavy rescue operation on the parkway with NYPD, FDNY, EMS and other law enforcement personnel.

EMS say two people are unresponsive on the scene.

Avoid the route for now.

Delays are back to the bridges on the Bronx border.

Ongoing investigation.
