Alice s Law named after the late Bellerose woman passed in NY

Governor Cuomo signed the bill, Alice's Law to combat insurance fraud bill in NY.The bill is named after Alice Ross of Bellerose. Ross, 71 who died on Commonwealth Blvd and 82nd Avenue in March 22, 2003 around 4:30pm while driving her 1985 Buick when intentional struck by a driver causing her to lose control of the vehicle hit a tree. The driver, Waurd Demolaire of Brooklyn has been sentenced to prison for 15 years. During the investigation, authorities confirmed that Demolaire staged the accident for insurance money. Two other passengers in Demolaire's vehicle were also sentenced to 2 years back then. The new law will issue minimum of 7 years for all involved and not just the driver resulting serious injury or death. Under New York State's no-fault law, insurance companies must cover expenses for victims even if the victim was responsible resulting common method of insurance fraud.
