A pedestrian struck by vehicle died on the LIE on Long Island

Last night around 9:30pm, the LIE eastbound was shutdown by Exit 56. This is in Hauppauge, Suffolk County.

According to the SCPD, a pedestrian, male was in the middle lane of the highway when he was struck by an on-coming vehicle and died.

The medical examiner transported the body for autopsy.

The driver remained on the scene and continued to cooperate with the police.

Additional details were not provided why the male was on the expressway.

The investigation continues.
