A new bill targeting reckless drivers in NYC

After the shocking disaster in Brooklyn involving a reckless driving incident that killed a mother and her two children, two local members of the NYS Assembly and Senate introducing a new bill targeting reckless drivers in NYC.

Under the new legislation, anyone over 11 points on their license within a year would need to install a device that would prevent them from going over the speed limit in the city. This device is very popular in Europe using an interlock system automatically to control speed.

The introduction is a long haul and would need 80 sponsors from both Assembly and Senate to bring the bill to the floor.

Each time a new law is introduced in NYC, funding has gone dry from impounding vehicles to suspending licenses due to lack of enforcement involving the insurance industry that still controls most of local elected officials with lobbying power.

This is where the NYC Mayor is always on the support for less drivers with more road and lane closures.

This new intro is a wait and watch.
