5 year phase for class size in NYC public schools

1,2,3,4,5. That's 5.

The NY Governor signed the bill to limit students per class. The phase will start next year and will continue until 2028.

The list is 20 students for each K-3 grade, 23 students for 4 to 8th grades and 25 students for 9 to 12th grade.

The current standing is 32 to 34 students per class.

Despite the objection from the NYC Mayor due to lack of staff, funding is now in need to meet the phase for five years. The Governor has not responded to the funding part. Both members of the Assembly and Senate will be negotiating the budget next spring so until then it's wait and watch if Albany will provide funding or if the bill will be adjusted. For now, it's only a preliminary stage.
