13 families displaced after fire in Roosevelt

The NCPD reports a residential/structure fire that occurred on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 around 1am. According to police, firefighters responded to a call for a possible house fire located at 132 Nassau Rd. Upon arrival police observed the upstairs portion of the buildings rear apartment, engulfed in flames. Responding officers entered the building and assisted in evacuating approximately 15 residents. An additional 10-15 residents were evacuated from nearby homes. All occupants of the buildings were evacuated safely with no injuries reported. Red Cross responded to assist 13 displaced families. The Nassau County Police Arson Bomb Squad responded along with the Nassau County Fire Marshall. The investigation is ongoing.
