100 miles of closed streets scheduled for pedestrians in NYC

Starting May, Mayor de Blasio will outline street closings in NYC for pedestrians. This includes wider sidewalks and bike lanes after City Council reported the plan which the mayor was hesitant. The local council members will select streets in five categories from bike lanes, close to parks, police precincts and civic associations. The streets will be open for PAUSE mode only except for bike lanes. The mayor reported the city won't be be back to normal for the month of May. 40 miles is the first stage that will be set next week.
