Woman dead after hit and run on the Van Wyck Expressway

Police reported a woman died while sitting inside a vehicle after a hit and run on the Van Wyck Expressway. It happened around 3:30am by Exit 2. A BMW X6 speeding rear ended a Nissan Altima and then lost control and hit the back of a Toyota Camry. From there, it went over the guard rail and landed on the service road by 116th Avenue. The driver of the BMW, a female, got out of the vehicle and ran away. Police reported a passenger inside the Altima, a 77 year old female died at the scene. Both drivers of the Altima, a 38 year old male and Camry, a 40 year old male were taken to local hospitals with injuries. Police are searching for the BMW driver and the investigation is ongoing.
