Winning bid selected for the Islanders at Belmont Racetrack

On Tuesday, December 19, the proposals submitted for either hockey arena or soccer stadium gave way for NY Islanders with the winning bid. Currently, the Islanders are playing at Brooklyn's Barclay Center and moving to Elmont. However, the schedules of construction or when the 18,000 seat arena will be ready has not been announced. The soccer team, NYCFC will continue to play at Yankees Stadium. At the same time, group of Elmont residents are preparing with lawsuits to stop the action from moving forward.
