Willets Point in Flushing to start the construction for affordable homes and a school

Today, the NYC mayor and local politicians were in Willets Point, Flushing for groundbreaking. The lot which has been ongoing since the last 15 years will move ahead with the first stage of environmental cleanup. This is expected to be completed by 2022. Then construction for 1,100 plus affordable apartments plus a 650 seat school along with open space will start in 2024. Also retail fronts for local businesses. This project will have 800 jobs. The additional plan of Airtran for expansion from JFK to LGA with Flushing Meadow Park to expand the tennis promotions is the next stage which will be discussed in 2030 or longer.
