Wantagh Parkway closed after wrong way accident

Police have closed off Wantagh Parkway at Sunrise Highway in Bellmore reporting multiple vehicle accident.

One driver went on the highway the wrong route. Both drivers were pinned inside after the accident.

Heavy police and EMS presence.

Highway closed. The driver who went the wrong way was a missing person from Connecticut and was driving with dementia identified as Burgess Moore, 82. Moore was unconscious presumed dead at the scene but later reported in critical condition at the hospital.
