Wait long and then some longer for IBX light rail

The Interborough Express called BX light rail that connects between Queens and Brooklyn on a 14 mile length of its proposal for engineering has been approved for funds and that comes from the federal government. The first phase budget is around $2 billion taxpayer funds.

The entire project is part of MTA and was stalled in 2021 due to the pandemic.

One of the advantages of this project is to avoid the Manhattan route but between Queens and Brooklyn. Also, connection to subways from all stations within the major lines.

The next step is an environmental review which will take more than two years. Then more planning and then some more planning which will take a minimum of five years.

The NY Governor is optimistic with the budget once the congestion pricing resumes for all New Yawkers after the election.
