Vouchers well needed overtook crime reduction and street safety in Astoria

Election results poured in and one part of NYC is a socialist town. Astoria has all the elected officials in US Congress, NYC Council, NYS Senate and NYS Assembly in the socialist movement except the US Senate. The first for a major city nationwide in over 100 years.

Despite low voter turnout in Astoria, the movement’s next aim is to expand Queens and Manhattan. A group of SuperPAC from Manhattan spent almost $2 million to stop the movement, but it wasn't enough to match people with the much needed vouchers from food, healthcare to housing in Astoria which is a stronghold.

The main focus will be housing and passing the good cause eviction since bail reform is not changing in NY by remaining as it is. Astoria made a headline when Amazon dropped the bid to locate their second headquarters without union where the same people voted for socialism now living off on programs. That’s the major strength for the elected officials to stay in power.

For Brooklyn, Greenpoint is represented by socialist elected officials.
