Victim robbed in Bethpage

The Eighth Squad reports the arrest of a homeless man for a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 4:50 p.m. in Bethpage. According to Detectives, a male victim, 20, agreed to sell sneakers to an unknown subject through Facebook Marketplace. Both parties agreed to meet at the 7-11 located at 4220 Hempstead Turnpike. As the victim was showing the sneakers to the subject he grabbed the sneakers and ran southbound on Seitz Drive. The victim followed the subject and confronted him. The confrontation escalated and the subject pulled out a knife and pointed it at the victim. The victim backed up and called 911. Officers arrived and placed the defendant Alexander Almonte, 20, into custody without further incident. There were no injuries reported. The defendant Alexander Almonte has been charged with two (2) counts of Robbery 1st Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 in Mineola.
