Valley Stream man arrested for criminal possession of a weapon after altercation with another man

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a Valley Stream man for an incident that occurred on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 at 9:00 PM in Valley Stream.

According to detectives, the Defendant Edwin Cortez, 47, of Valley Stream was at the 24-Hour Fitness, located at 750 West Sunrise Highway, where he got into an argument with a 40-year-old male victim and displayed a knife. He was arrested at the location without incident. No injuries were reported.

Defendant Edwin Cortez is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rdDegree and Menacing 2nd Degree. He was arraigned on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
